Congratulations to the boys who won their quarter final against Carrick N.S. in Ballinlough.  They now progress to the semi-finals.

Hard luck to the girls football team who narrowely lost out to Tulsk school. It was a very enjoyable game. They kept their heads held high.

Well done to both teams for competing in the Cumann na mBunscol games . The boy's team progressed to the next stages where they met a very strong Fuerty N.S. team.



10km cycle




The senior room completed the cycle right project with a 10km cycle. Many thanks to Roscommon Sports Partnership .



Exhibition game




Congratulations to Catherine Casey in the senior room who participated in the Cumann na mBunscol exhibition game at Dr. Hyde park on Sunday.

 5th & 6th class today completed an active walkway activity for one of their active breaks.

Fitness Friday


 

  

 

 

 We incorporated the amber flag with the active school's flag this week. We had fitness Friday today. The senior room completed a 5k walk and each room played playground games for their movement breaks.

Sept 2023: Congratulations to Nik and Callum who won medals in their recent karate competitions.

   

 

 

  

Races


 

  

  We finsihed off  our end of year party with races. Each child was then presented with medals for their efforts. Well done to everyone as we have been working on our running technique the past few months.

 

 

  

Last 5km for 6th class!


 

  

 

The senior room enjoyed their 5k walk today in the glorious weather. It was also 6th class's last time to complete  the 5k walk. It is something we grew to love.

 That's a wrap on a climb with Charlie. Well done to everyone for walking 345km to support Charlie Bird's Climb with Charlie.  The senior room completed a 5k walk today in support. Thanks also to everyone for their donations.

 We held a mini sports day today to top off a great active school's week. We got so lucky with the weather this week also. Well t done to everyone for a very enjoyable active school's week.

Roscommon Sports Partnership


 

  



  The fun continued today with a visit from Charlene from Roscommon Sports Partnership. They danced, played games and enjoyed excercises. Many thanks to Charlene, we all enjoyed it.

   

 

 

  

Visit from Healthquarters!


 

  

 

 Many thanks to Kenny and Joe from Healthquarters in Ballaghaderreen who kindly took each class out for excercises and games. Everyone really enjoyed it.

   

 

 

  

10k Cycle


 

  

 

 

4th, 5th & 6th class got active schools week off to a great start with a 10k cycle in the sun! This concluded our 4 week cycle right programme wiht Roscommon Sports Partnership.

 

 

  

Active schools week


 

  

 

 Active schools week will take place next week. We have  various activities planned each day.  The children can wear their P.E. uniform everyday and there will be no homework next week. The children will have P.E> homework and will be encouraged to get active as much as possible. We are going to coincide with Charlie Bird's Climb  with Charlie

 We are going to support him by walking laps of the yard to clock up our kilometres. The senior room will also complete a 5k walk on Friday to complete our Climb with Charlie .

 

 

  

Dancing- St. Patrick's Day Parade


 

  

 

The school has been busy the last few weeks preparing for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ballaghaderreen. We prepared a dance to Mr.  Blue Sky Waving Hands and also used sign language. Well done to everyone for coming first place in the community category and for raising awareness.

   

 

 

  

World champion!


 

   Ronan Kelly,  5 times world champion,  visited the school to demonstrate his Irish dancing skills and also to speak to the students about his dancing. He also taught the children some Irish dancing steps. Everyone really enjoyed his visit.

 The Senior Room started their 6 weeks  aquatics lessons today in Aura Carrick on Shannon.

   

 

 

  

PDST


 

  

Many thanks to Thomas from the PDST who visited our school today. Staff recieved CPD  in physical education and he also took each room for P.E.

Sponsored 10k walk


 

  

 

 The senior room completed a sponsored 10k walk last Friday for Focus Ireland. What a great way to finish off active schools week. Many thanks to all donated for such a great cause.

We incorported our rinka session into our active flag. We were delighted to recieve a taster session . The whole school enjoyed the fun excercises and games.
